9th Bosphorus Film Festival National Feature Competition Jury Members Have Been Announced

The 9th Bosphorus Film Festival, organized by the Bosphorus Culture and Arts Foundation, taking place on 23-30 October, National Feature Competition finalist selection jury members have been announced.

Bringing cinemagoers together, the National Feature Competition Jury President for this year’s festival is Reis Çelik director of Lights Out, Goodbye Tomorrow, Tales of Intransigence, Refugee, Night of Silence and Food For a Funeral.

Reis Çelik was born in 1961 in Ardahan. After working in the journalism and TV sector for many years, he tended towards cinema in 1995 with his first feature Lights Out. Standing out as the scriptwriter and director of the films Goodbye Tomorrow, Tales of Intransigence, Refugee, Night of Silence and lastly Food For a Funeral, Çelik also made 12 documentaries and held photography exhibitions in numerous countries. He won the Crystal Bear Award with his film Night of Silence that had its world premiere at the 62nd Berlin Film Festival Generation 14+ Section. Çelik won numerous awards in national and international film festivals and has been the president of the Film Directors Association since 2012.

National Feature Competition Jury Members

The National Feature Competition jury members with the Jury President Reis Çelik are Çiğdem Vitrinel who has won numerous awards in festivals with her films What Remains and But Muzeyyen That’s The Deepest Desire, director Erdem Tepegöz with his first feature Particle and his independent science-fiction second film In The Shadows that world-premiered at the 35th International Moscow Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize and the Best Director award at the 8th Bosphorus Film Festival, award winning actress Vildan Atasever who began her cinema career in Kutluğ Ataman’s film 2 Girls and continued with numerous films including Destiny, Night and The Mute and cinematographer Gökhan Atılmış with over thirty films including Ali Baba And The Seven Dwarfs, Coming Soon, The Shadowless and The International.

With the support of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema, official partnership of TRT and support of Global Communications Partner Anadolu Agency, organized by the Bosphorus Culture and Arts Foundation, the 9th Bosphorus Film Festival will take place on 23-30 October in Istanbul.

National Feature Competition Awards

Films in the National Feature Competition will be competing in front of the jury for the award of 100.000 TL for the Best National Feature, alongside awards including cash prizes of 50.000 TL for the Best Debut Film award, 20.000 TL for the Best Director award, 15.000 TL for the Best Actress award, 15.000 TL for the Best Actor award, 10.000 TL for the Best Screenplay award, 10.000 TL for the Best Cinematography award and 10.000 TL for the Best Editing award. Alongside the category awards, 10.000 TL cash prize will be given by the Film Producers’ Professional Association (FIYAB) for the FIYAB Best Producer award in the national competition for one film to support successful producers and independent films and FİLM – YÖN Best Director Award by the Turkish Film Directors’ Association.
