TODAY AT THE FESTIVAL OCTOBER 31, 2018, WEDNESDAY

 

  • Nathaniel Kahn’s “The Price Of Everything” hosting globally renowned contemporary artists including Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter, Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Larry Poons, that vied at Sundance, Philadelphia, CPH:DOX film festivals, will be screened at Beyoglu Movie Theatre at 12.00.

 

  • The panel talk “Co-Production Processes for Indie Films” will be realized at Akademi Beyoglu at 15.00. We will attend to the experiences regarding co-production processes of Faruk Güven, TRT Co-production and International Productions Manager, producer Borislav Chochkov from CH-Bros Film and producer Zeynep Atakan from Zeyno Film.

 

  • “House of Serenity”, a national competition film directed by Cafer Özgül, will have its world premiere at Atlas Movie Theatre at 16:00 with the participation of the director and cast.

 

  • “Screwdriver”, Bassam Jarbawi’s impressive story of a Palestinian man who returns home after having 15 years of imprisonment time at an Israel prison, that was critically acclaimed following its world premiere at Venice, will have its Turkey premiere at Beyoglu Movie Theatre at 16:00.

 

  • Land”, that premiered at the Forum section of Berlinale, a film by the Iranian director Babak Jalali, who attracted cinephiles’ attention with his debut feature “Frontier Blues” (2009) will be screened with the participation of the director at Atlas Movie Theatre at 19:00.

 

  • “The Announcement”, a national competition film directed by Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun will be screened at Atlas Movie Theatre at 21.30 with the participation of the director and cast.

 

  • “Cold November” by the Kosovan director Ismet Sijarina -who won many awards with his documentary “Beyond the Rainbow” (2008)- a film that competed at San Sebastián, and won the Audience Award at Zurich, about what happened in Kosovo during the breakdown of Yugoslavia Federation at the early 90’s will be screened with the participation of the director, actor and producer at Beyoglu Movie Theatre at 21:30.

 

TOMORROW AT THE FESTIVAL NOVEMBER 1, THURSDAY

 

  • Chinese director Sheng Qiu’s “Suburban Birds”, an entertaining, absurd and Kafkaesque coming of age story about a group of ghetto children, that vied at the Contemporary Filmmakers section of Locarno, will be screened with the participation of the director at Atlas Movie Theatre at 12:00.

 

  • The panel talk “Cinema as an Industry and Festivals” will be realized at Akademi Beyoglu at 16.00 with the participation of Erkan Durdu (TRT Vice President), Prof. Serdar Öztürk (TRT Academy Magazine - Member of the Editorial Board), Assoc. Prof. Hasan Bozgeyikli (Erciyes University), Zeynep Atakan (producer) and Ahmet Mümtaz Taylan (actor). Based on the outcomes of Festival Audience Disposition Evaluation Study realized by TRT Academy Magazine throughout Turkey, the answers to questions such as "What are the expectations of Turkish audiences regarding the festivals?", "Do we need films that are produced for the festivals or do we need festivals in supportive of the industry?" will be evaluated. 

 

  • “Winter Flies”, Slovenian director Olmo Omerzu’s coming of age & road movie that won the Best Director Award at Karlovy Vary will be screened with the participation of the director and cast at Atlas Movie Theatre at 16.00.

 

  • “Bomb: A Love Story”, the second directing attempt of Payman Maadi, the Iranian actor that we know well from his acting performance in “A Separation” (2011) will be screened at Kadikoy Movie Theatre at 19.00.

 

  • “Siren’s Call” by Ramin Matin, that had its world premiere at Tokyo Film Festival will be screened for the first time in Turkey with the participation of the director and cast at Atlas Movie Theatre at 21:30.


South African Jahmil X.T. Qubeka’s “Sew the Winter to My Skin” (2018), the true story told with a Western epic style, of an ill-famed outlaw who have reached to a status of public hero, that was screened at London and Toronto film festivals will be screened at Kadikoy Movie Theatre at 21:30.
